ALPs competition calendar

The Western Lachine Pool is a member of the Lakeshore Pools Association (ALPs), a group of 22 West Island pools that was formed in 1958. Each member pool can create swimming, diving, synchronized swimming and water polo teams, that are composed of pool members and instructed by qualified coaches who are employed by the respective pools. The pandemic had interrupted the competitions, but they will resume this summer!

Join one or more teams and discover or improve in an aquatic sport you love! Being a member of our teams gives you the chance to be part of a friendly group of young people who develop a competitive spirit together.

When are the teams training? How do I sign up? Children as young as 5 years old can register. You can sign your children up at any time for our teams during our office hours or talk to our lifeguards. The training schedule starts on June 27. Please note that swim meets are regularly held on Wednesday evenings and dive meets on Sunday mornings.

SWIMMING LESSONS

For the last time this summer, the Western Lachine Pool is offering Red Cross swimming lessons. The Red Cross has decided to prioritize its attention to humanitarian help, among other things, and will no longer be supporting the swimming lesson program by the end of the year. We must therefore choose a new program to be implemented for the 2023 season. We will keep you informed.

When are the swimming lessons? How do I sign up?
The swimming lessons are set up as follows: * A session (each level) is made up of 8 lessons of 30 to 45 mins each. * Each level can be completed either: 1) in 2 weeks at the rate of four lessons per week (morning lessons given from Monday to Thursday) 2) in 4 weeks at the rate of two lessons per week (evening lessons, Tuesday and Thursday, OR lessons given on weekends, Saturdays and Sundays) You can therefore, if you pass each session, complete up to 4 levels of swimming lessons during the summer. Registrations can be made on the Thursday preceding the start of each of the announced sessions. The first class will be on June 27 for the 2-week session, June 25 for the 4-week, weekend session and June 28 for the 4-week evening course.

Please consult the guides in the "2022 registration forms" section before registering. For any question or info please write us: courspiscinelachineouest@gmail.com

First full and second (morning) session schedule:

LIFEGUARD COURSE

The Western Lachine Pool is proud of its community involvement but also has the interest to ensure the preparation of the next generation by training young people who would like to become lifeguards, either at our pool or elsewhere.

When are the classes? How do I sign up? We are teaching Bronze Cross and Bronze Medal courses again this summer. Sign up at the office by June 26. Participants must be 13 years or older to register.

LEADERS

This summer, the Leaders program is back! What exactly is a Leader? A Leader is a young member that is 9 years or older who can't get enough of the pool! Leaders help with pool tasks, organize fun activities, and learn what it's like to be a Western Lachine Pool lifeguard! If this sounds like a fun challenge for your summer, make sure to sign-up and join us!

When is it? How do I sign up?  You can register from Saturday, June 25, on during the BBQ, and any time after that during the summer. An email will then be sent to you to give you more details. The first Leaders meeting will take place on Monday, June 27 at 6:30 p.m.

AQUA-FIT / AQUA-ZUMBA / AQUA-FUN / YOGA

We will be offering our popular Aqua-fit, Aqua-Zumba, Aqua-fun, and yoga classes again this year.

When will it be offered? How do I sign up?  No registration required. These activities are free for our members and are accessible to non-members at a cost of $10 per class. A daily bracelet will allow the non-member to use the pool the same day, throughout the day. Please check the calendar for our schedule.

DO YOU WANT TO BRING A FRIEND?

This year, we are resuming the sale of booklets of 10 tickets for $50, available to members only, allowing them to invite friends who are not members of the pool, whether they are from the neighborhood or elsewhere! The actual pool member has to be at the pool with the invite when using the ticket. There is no purchase limit, so take advantage of it!

When are the booklets available? Where do I buy them?  The booklets can be purchased at the pool at any time during our opening hours.
